Jeff Tocci was born in the foothills of the Adirondacks, next to a frozen lake, year unconfirmed. He is currently residing between Brooklyn, NY and Oaxaca, MX. In a lifelong attempt to capture something worthwhile, Tocci dedicated his first decades to observational drawing before expanding his mediums into oil painting, lithograph, etching and mixed mediums. After a long run at the Art Students League of New York under the satirical eye of artist Robert Cenedella, as well as studying anatomy, large format ink drawing and stone lithography, he found his way to the printmaking capital of Oaxaca, Mexico. Several productive years followed in a full-immersion and cultural exchange with the local artists and printmakers at the internationally recognized studios La Máquina and Espacio Pino Suárez. At the latter, a six-year etching and aquatint project with print master Marco Velasco is nearing its completion in the form of Tocci’s first self-published book, ANIMALES.
